Moses

The One Whom Allah Spoke To · Musa · موسى
JudaismChristianityIslamSamaritan

Musa, peace be upon him, is the prophet most often named in the Quran: 131 verses name him. Allah spoke to him directly and gave him the Torah, and the Quran tells his story from his birth to the Children of Israel’s deliverance. Because the Quran is the final revelation, it is the measure by which the earlier books are read.

“And [recall] when We gave Moses the Scripture and criterion that perhaps you would be guided.”
Allah gives Moses the Scripture and the criterion, that perhaps they would be guided.

And when he awoke, he said, ‘Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first of the believers.’”

The Quran

“Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light.”
The Torah is described as guidance and light.
“Then We gave Moses the Scripture, making complete [Our favor] upon the one who did good and as a detailed explanation of all things and as guidance and mercy that perhaps in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord they would believe.”
“And before it was the scripture of Moses to lead and as a mercy. And this is a confirming Book in an Arabic tongue to warn those who have wronged and as good tidings to the doers of good.”

“Indeed, this is in the former scriptures, The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.”
